With the adventure that was waiting for a Direct, we got a Mini Direct out of nowhere Thursday morning. While many were somewhat disappointed, I was ecstatic. While a bigger Direct will come and blow my socks off, I was blown by this Direct. Here’s what was announced:

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana

The World Ends with You: Final Remix

Dark Souls Remastered

Mario Tennis Aces

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

SNK Heroines

Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition

All that, plus some stuff like release dates, new information, etc…

Ys VIII and The World Ends with You really excited me, and still do. These are top notch RPG’s, plus the developers behind it are really good. Ys VIII is made by Falcom (who previously said they weren’t bringing anything) and The World Ends with You is made by Square Enix. It makes me very happy that these are arriving on the Switch because I previously thought they weren’t.

Dark Souls Remastered was kinda not surprising, with all of the rumors. I do think it’s still exciting, this is a new type of game for Nintendo. SNK Heroines doesn’t particularly excite me, I’m not a fan of endless fighting games, honestly.

Mario Tennis Aces makes me excited, there’s pretty graphics, a STORY mode(!) and new improvements. This is a game I really want to play, so I’m definitely picking it up.

Hyrule Warriors Remastered and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze aren’t surprising to me, nor do they interest me. I’ll be passing on these.

The stuff about PayDay 2 makes me more excited, I’m definitely picking this up to play with friends. Kirby got a release date, which is cool, Celeste and Fe got a release date.

Let’s hope for a bigger Direct soon, but I did enjoy this one.
