Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, Predator: Hunting Grounds and more!
Summer Game Fest is an initiative started by Geoff Keighley, where major gaming studios will showcase all kinds of information for their upcoming titles. SGF began in May and will go on until August with announcements from EA, Sony, Microsoft, and many more. So far SGF has released limited-time demos to certain games, but on May 12th was when the first major reveal for a new title was showcased. Alongside the Summer Game Fest was other gaming announcements that revealed new information for games coming soon.
The Birdman Returns
The first major reveal from SGF was the announcement of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 making a comeback on modern consoles. Vicarious Visions will team up with skateboarding legend Tony Hawk to release both titles in one package titled Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. First released in 1999 and 2000, these critically acclaimed skating games will be given a fresh coat of paint thanks to 4K resolution and 60 FPS, the game will feature the full skating roster from the original games along with a bunch of the music in the original soundtrack.
The game will feature both local co-op and online multi-player. Finally, the game will feature the return of Create-a-skater and Create-a-park which can be shared online with other friends. The game will retail for $39.99 with a $49.99 deluxe edition also available for purchase but for the collectors, there will be a $99.99 edition that will feature a limited edition birdhouse deck, those who purchase the game digitally will be given access to the Warehouse demo whenever it becomes available for download, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 releases on September 4th for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Get to the Choppa!
Predator: Hunting Grounds has only been out for a few weeks but the game will be getting both free and paid DLC with the first wave bringing in a familiar face. Dutch, the protagonist of the first Predator film will be making his comeback to the series as the first paid DLC character for the game with his voice actor being none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger meaning this will be his big return to video games since 2014. In the free update to the game, players will be able to earn tapes to figure out where he has been all this time. Those who purchase the paid DLC will be given access to Dutch and early access to his arsenal of weapons which will be given out for free to everyone else at a later date. Coming in the future there will also be more free and paid DLC for Hunting Grounds but at the moment it’s unknown what that will entail so well have to wait and see. Predator: Hunting Grounds is available now for Playstation 4 and PC.
PlayStation Studios and State of Play
Sony has officially announced the formation of Playstation Studios, this is a brand for the company which will be releasing both PS4 and PS5 under this banner according to GameIndusty.biz, alongside this reveal was the opening animation for the brand which will appear inside the games. The opening features many Playstation icons like Kratos, Aloy, and more which are the current mascots of the brand.
Along with this news comes the reveal of a brand new State of Play, this is a recorded video that focuses on bringing news of upcoming releases for Playstation but this upcoming episode will be entirely focused on the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima game which is slated to come out on July 17th. The upcoming State of Play will release on May 14th around 1:00 PM PST or 4:00 PM EST.
Iron Man VR soars into a new release date
Sony has also announced that Iron Man VR is finally getting a new release date, Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Camouflaj have revealed that Iron Man VR is coming to Playstation VR on July 3rd. The game was originally slated for a Feburary 2020 release but was pushed back to May 15th by Sony to ensure proper quality then it was delayed once more due to the ongoing problems with COVID-19, now a new release date for the game has been given and players will be able to soar around as Tony Stark and battle the likes of Ghost. Iron Man VR releases exclusively for Playstation VR on July 3rd.
