Nintendo announces a new Nintendo Direct!

 

After almost 530 days without a general Nintendo Direct, a new one will arrive on February 17th. Nintendo has officially announced a new direct that will span over 50 minutes and cover a wide range of topics with one that we know of being Super Smash Bros Ultimate, meaning a new fighter announcement is possible. The official statement also reveals that new games coming in the first half of 2021 will be announced as well, and with The Legend of Zelda series celebrating its 35 anniversary in February, it’s likely they will show a new game or a collection. Not much is known about the Nintendo direct right now but well have to wait and see what this almost one-hour direct has in store for fans.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 speeds into a 2022 release

Paramount has officially confirmed via a new teaser video that the official name for Sonic the Hedgehog sequel. The movie will be called Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which isn’t very surprising but the neat thing about this video is that the 2 is based on Tails with his signature twin tails adoring the bottom of the number. The Sonic movie getting a sequel was confirmed shortly after its release due to how well Sonic performed at the box office with it making over $300 million worldwide. While no synopsis for the sequel is known at the moment rumors of the movie taking Sonic, Tails and James Marsden’s character Tom off world has been talked about by fans who have also been hoping Jim Carrey’s Dr. Eggman will team up with Knuckles one of Sonic’s allies who Eggman usually tricks. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 arrives in theaters on April 8th 2022.

Post Malone to host virtual concert for Pokémon Day

With the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon series coming up real soon and The Pokemon Company has announced a music event for Pokemon Day. Earlier this year, TPC announced a huge collaboration with a bunch of musical figures to create a musical celebration dubbed P25 which will celebrate the 25 years of Pokemon. Currently, the only 2 musicians known to be working with Pokemon are Katy Perry and Post Malone with Malone set to perform a virtual concert on February 27th, which TPC and Fans have dubbed Pokemon Day the original release date of Pokemon Red and Green in Japan. The concert is set to start at 7PM EST with TPC ensuring that more musical events and news about the franchise will be announced at a later date. With the games celebrating the 25th anniversary soon its possible that Game Freak and TPC will reveal a new game like the long awaited Diamond and Pearl remakes or show off more information on upcoming games like Pokemon Unite

Crash Bandicoot 4 jumps to more consoles on March 12th

 

Originally releasing on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, the newest entry in the Crash Bandicoot series is finally making the leap to new consoles next month. Crash 4: It’s About Time has been a success for Activision who have announced the game will come to new platforms on March 12th. The announcement comes via a new trailer showcasing a PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC release via BattleNet. Those who currently own the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be given a free upgrade to the new versions on March 12th. Crash Bandicoot 4:It’s About Time is available now on Playstation 4 and Xbox One with a Playstation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC release coming on March 12th.

Kingdom Hearts arrives to PC via Epic Games Store


During a Epic Games Store update livestream talking about new games coming to the platform, it’s been confirmed that the Kingdom Hearts franchise is coming to PC. Fans of the Kingdom Hearts series have been hoping for a PC release of the games and now that Epic has reached an exclusivity contract with Square Enix, the franchise is releasing on March 30th with 1.5+2.5 Remix, 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue and Kingdom Hearts 3 which will come bundled with Re Mind, each available to purchase separately. No word on when the series will be available to purchase on Steam, but it seems that it won’t be for a while due to Square stating that Epic was heavily involved with the PC ports.

Jack Black joins the Borderlands movie as Claptrap

 

Eli Roth’s upcoming Borderlands movie has begun to pick up steam with the newest casting announcements. Currently, the film has cast Kevin Hart as Roland, Cate Blanchett as Lilith and Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Tannis, but the film has finally cast its Claptrap with Jack Black filling the cogs of the lovable bot. Jack Black is known to be a comedic actor with his roles in Kung Fu Panda and the new Jumanji movies. With this casting it’s shown that the movie is bringing in a bunch of popular actors to fill the roles of the Vault Hunters, but it’s unknown if the film will adapt the first or second game and if they’ll even have Handsome Jack in this movie. For now, we’ll have to wait for more details to emerge, but it’s looking like Borderlands will be a big film.
